We would like to say a huge thank you to our choreographer
Alex for creating such a stunning and sophisticated
routine and for coaching the students to such
an impressive standard.
The
year 10 GCSE Dance students from Holland Park
are absolutely thrilled to be taking part in Summertime.
To have had the opportunity to work with Alex,
who is such a talented and experienced professional,
has given the students a fantastic insight into
a previously unfamiliar style of dance and an
advanced way of working.
As
the piece developed and rehearsals progressed,
steps became more familiar, and the style more
natural. The students grew in confidence and their
manner of working became increasingly more professional
and suited to the challenge of performing in as
prestigious a venue as the Royal Albert Hall in
a production as high profile as Summertime.

One
student, Blu Posner, said: “I can’t
believe we are working on such an exciting and
fun project in such a renowned institution”.
Indeed all students were equally enthusiastic,
Jessica, aged 15, said: “I am really excited
to be performing on the same stage as Beyoncé
and Jay-Z, I’ve never done anything as big
as this before. The rehearsals are really fun
and Alex is great.”
When
we first heard about Summertime, we knew
it would be an amazing opportunity for students.
Having now seen the progression the students have
made, there is no doubt that this will be an experience
that they will never forget.
