Thank
you to Suzanne Hammond for her wonderful choreography
and wealth of experience that she has shared with
us, to Brampton Manor’s Head Teacher Neil
Berry and Senior Teacher Pete Whittle for their
support and to Fiona Findlay, Head of Dance at
Brampton Manor for her help and support of the
project.
We
opted to be part of the project for the once in
a lifetime opportunity that it gives the children.
Performing at such a wonderful historic venue
as the Royal Albert Hall and being part of such
a large dance performance is a rare and exciting
prospect. The children have had the chance to
work with a dance professional who is an expert
in their field and work together as a company
that would otherwise be beyond our everyday means.

We
chose Lindy Hop as it is such a fun style to do.
It is exciting and energetic with its fast footwork
and it is also a challenge. The fact that it involves
partner work means the students are also building
interaction skills as well as having fun. It is
a style they have never had the chance to do before
within school and with its journey from New York
Harlem to the modern day, its historical journey
also means they are learning about the origins
and history of dance.
This
has been a wonderful opportunity to work with
pupils who love dance and performing in collaboration
with professional companies in one of the most
prestigious venues in England.
