Funding
One
of the greatest problems facing anyone wishing to pursue a
career in dance will be the problem of finding funding for
their chosen course.
Vocational
dance training in Britain has traditionally taken place in
independent institutions where courses are not fully funded.
At designated schools, about half the places are funded by
the government as part of a new scholarship scheme, entitled
the Dance and Drama Awards. Each training institution is responsible
for allocating their own awards and they will be given to
those students who show most talent and potential at audition.
These new awards help with fees and maintenance costs for
successful students on approved places.
CDET
supplies a list of courses where funded places may be available.
Send an SAE for information on accredited courses, finding
funding and other information on the dance profession.
